Frank Phillips Jr., Pastor
True Vine Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1977 in the home of Rosemary and Arthur Lawrence. Those in attendance were Bro. Alex Jones, Sr., Sis. Dorothy Jones, Bro. Jacob Sarden, Bro. Charlie Bernard, Rev. Dr. Ransom Howard, and Rev. Andy Williams.
The name, True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, was suggested by Bro. Alex Jones, Sr. and was accepted by the group. Rev. Andy Williams became the pastor. Church services were held in Labor Local Hall on Thomas Blvd. in Port Arthur until the present building at 1448 Second Avenue was purchased.
Rev. Andy Williams served as pastor until his retirement. In April of 1988 Rev. Frank Phillips, Jr. was installed as the pastor and is currently in his 23rd year of service.
Under the leadership of Pastor Phillips, several ministries have been organized and maintained to continue the task assigned to this body of believers by our heavenly Father.
